Subject: The Cardinal's Mort Cooper loses no hitter with 2 out in 9th.

Mort Cooper carried a no-hitter into the 9th inning as the St. Louis NL
Cardinals defeated the Washington Senators by the score of 1 to 0 at
Sportsman's Park.

Cooper(16-7) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Washington offense.
He gave up just 1 hit and 4 walks in 9 innings. The right-handed Cooper had
his no-hit bid broken up by George McQuinn who singled with two outs in the
9th inning. Washington had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Alex Carrasquel(5-8) took the loss. It was a tough loss for him as he did not
allow an earned run in his 7 and 2/3 innings of work.
