Game 1: Red Sox win 6-2 as Jim Bagby pitches 8 1/3 innings allowing only 2 runs for his 21st win. He also drove in two runs with 2 hits to support his own cause. Game 2: Bobby Doerr drives in 3 runs on a double and single to lead Boston to a 5-2 victory. Game 3: Al Benton and Charlie Wagner match zeros until the top of the 8th when the Red Sox take a 1-0 lead on Bobby Doerr’s sacrifice fly. Wagner gives up a lead single to Stan Spence and the Red Sox go to their pen and bring in Mace Brown…who promptly gives up a home run to Bruce Campbell (only his 2nd all year) and the Senators walk off with a 2-1 win. Red Sox finish 102-52 and win the American League Pennant.
