June 30 Claudell Washington had 2 base hits as the blistering-hot Atlanta Braves topped the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 3 to 0 at Fulton Co. Stadium. Joe Niekro(10-6) was very good in the win. He didn't allow much, just 4 hits and 6 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.21 to 3.00. Atlanta had 7 hits for the game and Los Angeles had 4. Niekro got help from Manny Sarmiento who was credited with his 3rd save. Mike Torrez(7-9) was given the loss. No one has been able to stop Atlanta lately as they lengthened their winning streak to 9 games.
