Subject: Twins @ Blue Jays and Brewers 115-118

@ Toronto
Game 1: The Jays went deep often with 5 home runs in the contest to win easily, 12-4. Spot starter Matt Keough reconfirmed why he is a spot starter and pitches only when usage insists with 10 runs allowed over 6 2/3 innings, including all 5 home runsallowed. One of my personal favorite all time Blue Jays had a banner day. Rance Mulliniks was 3-3 with 2 home runs, 4 runs scored and 4 rbi. Luis Leal was the benficiary, winning his 9th game of the season.

Game 2: Two more HR's for teh Blue Jays won this one but it was Jim Clancy's pitcihng that really did in the Twins. Clancy went the distance to win his 12th. He lost his shutout in the 9th when teh G-Man, Gary Gaetti hit a 2 run homer but it was too little too late for the Twins. 4-2 Blue Jays win. Cliff Johnson homered for his second straight game and former Twin Ron Washington haunted his former mates with a 2 run homer of his own.

@ Milwaukee
Game 1: The Twins and Brewers lock horns for 12 innings. Backup catcher Ned Yost wins it after coming in to play defense in the 10th and then homering in the 12th for a 5-4 Brewers win. Pete Ladd (5-2, 1.62) blew the save chance in the 8th but hung around long enough to get the win. Kent Hrbek hit his 14th home run in the loss for the Twins.

Game 2: Another barnburner for these two teams that is not decided in 9 innings. Milwaukee brought a 2-1 lead to teh 9th but again Pete Ladd blew this one when Lenny Faedo, of all people, picked that moment to match his season total of home runs, hitting his 1st of the year to give the Twins a 3-2 lead. Thankfully for the Brewers, Ron Davis came in to try and save it for Minnesota. He didn't try hard enough as he began the bottom of the 9th with a single, walk, walk. He got a lineout but then Jim Gantner tied it up with an rbi single. Twins fans thought this was over as Davis normally finishes off his blown saves with a loss but he surprised the fans by inducing Cecil Cooper into a double play ball. Bruno walked to lead off the 10th andTwins salvaged a win by a 6-3 score.
