Could the Braves be starting to turn it around. Game 1--Braves take it in a 7-6 win. Braves off to a quick start getting two runs in inning one and a run in two and three, but the Cubbies answered with a run in inning two and two runs in inning three. The teams then kept each other scoreless until the 8th inning in which the Braves scored two runs but the Cubbies answered back with 3 runs to tie it up in the 8th. The Braves then won the game with a run in the top of the 9th as Clete Boyer drew a walk, two outs later Walt Williams stepped in and he delivered a one-base hit scoring the run. For the game Rico Carty slammed two hr to give him 9 on the year in limited time. Also homering were Aaron(14), Santo(6), and Hisle(5 and 6). Carty and Hisle were both 3-4 with 2 hr, 2runs, 4rib. Game 2--Cubs have the quick start this time as they score a run in inning one, but the Braves score in the top of the 4th. Both teams went scoreless until the 6th when the Cubbies scored 3 runs in the bottom to go up 4-1. The Braves were able to pull within one at 4-3 in the top of the 7th as the Braves scored 2 runs. Regan got the Braves to go quietly in the 9th to pick up his 8th save of the year. No Brave was able to get more than one hit for the game while Aaron hit another hr his 15th of the year. The leading Cubs hitter was Beckert who was 3-4 with 2 runs and Ron Santo who went 2-3 with a hr. Game 3--The Braves dominated this game as they went on to a 7-2 win over the Cubs in game three of the series. The Cubs were able to score a run in the 3rd and were able to hold that lead till the 6th when the Braves scored. The Cubs did regain this lead in the 7th with another run and held this until the 9th when the Cub pitchers imploded and gave up 6 runs while Boozer came in and held the Cubs hitters in check. Williams and Hundley both homered for the Cubs to secure their runs. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com |
