Pedro Guerrero had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated
the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 9 to 3 at RIVERFRONT STADIUM.

Cincinnati was unable to recover after Los Angeles went ahead in the 7th
inning with 3 runs using 3 hits.  Larry Bowa started the inning off right
when he slapped a base-hit.  After another out, Rickey Henderson was a
strikeout victim, unable to help out.  Joe Lefebvre then drew a walk.  Bill
Doran was up next and he delivered a one-base hit which scored a run.  Doran
took second on the throw.  Mike Marshall stepped into the box and lined a
single adding another two runs to their total.  Los Angeles out-hit
Cincinnati for the game, 12 hits to 8.

The win went to Fernando Valenzuela(12-14) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings.
Lee Smith gained credit for his 20th save.  Bill Scherrer(2-4) took the loss
in relief.  He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in 1/3 of an inning.

Second baseman Ron Oester collected 2 extra-base hits and had 2 RBI as the
Cincinnati Reds defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 10 to 2 at
RIVERFRONT STADIUM.

The game started off with Cincinnati taking the lead in the first scoring 3
runners on 2 hits.  The early run support proved sufficient for Juan
Eichelberger(3-5) and Cincinnati.  That was all the run support Eichelberger
required.  Cincinnati ended up with 10 hits for the game while Los Angeles
had 5.

The loss was charged to Mike Torrez(9-14).  He was knocked around,
surrendering 6 runs in 5 innings.

Second baseman Alan Bannister went yard and had 4 RBI and MarioSoto struck
out 12 batters at RIVERFRONT STADIUM as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Los
Angeles Dodgers 11 to 8.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Bannister.  He cracked a solo homerun (his 2nd of the season) in
the 1st inning, doubled plating a run in the 2nd inning and doubled bringing
in two baserunners in the 3rd inning.  The Cincinnati offense poured it on,
scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

Soto(11-7) was the winner allowing 7 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Bill Scherrer
got the save, his 6th.  Pete Falcone(0-10) suffered the loss.  He allowed 8
hits and 3 walks in 3 innings.

Soto was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there.
The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates.  We got the victory
and I'll sure take 12 strikeouts anytime!'
