At Olympic Stadium the spectacular Montreal Expos outscored the Los Angeles
Dodgers 4 to 1.

Los Angeles fell behind quickly as the Montreal offense came through in the
first inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  After an out was
recorded, Tony Bernazard kicked off the action when he stroked a base-hit.
Mike Schmidt next to the plate and he drew a walk.  Andre Dawson then slapped
a single to load the bases.  Harold Baines was up next and he hit a deep fly
resulting in a run.  Gary Carter stepped into the box and singled which was
good for two more runs.  The early run support proved sufficient for Steve
Rogers(24-7) and Montreal.  That was all the run support Rogers required.
Montreal totaled 7 on the night.

Jeff Reardon recorded his 36th save.  Bob Welch(10-11) was tagged with the
loss.  He pitched 6 innings allowing 6 hits and 1 walk.
