Rafael Ramirez had 3 base hits at Fulton Co. Stadium as the red-hot Atlanta
Braves pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Los Angeles Dodgers by the
count of 4 to 3.

Atlanta had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs.  Chris Chambliss got things going when he drew a walk.  Floyd Rayford
followed and he drew a walk.  Bruce Benedict then laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Glenn Hubbard stepped in and he was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Kiko Garcia came to the plate and doubled making Atlanta victorious to the
delight of the the home town crowd.  The game was a scoreless duel until the
6th inning.

Tom Underwood(4-1) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings. Lee
Smith(4-5) was the loser in relief.  He gave up 1 hit and 3 walks in 1 and
1/3 innings.

'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Ramirez noted.  'It was
looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it
really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there
at the end!'

Steve Braun had 3 base hits at Fulton Co. Stadium as the LosAngeles Dodgers
beat the Atlanta Braves by the count of 5 to 2.

Atlanta was unable to recover after Los Angeles went ahead in the 3rd inning
scoring a single run on 3 hits.  After an out was recorded, Braun delivered a
base-hit.  Mike Marshall stepped into the batter's box and he banged out a
single.  One out later, Mike Scioscia came up and he slapped a one-base hit
scoring the run.  That was all Mike Torrez(11-16) needed.  Los Angeles ended
up with 11 hits for the game while Atlanta had 6.

Greg Minton earned the save, his 3rd.  The losing pitcher was Pascual
Perez(13-8).  He allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Mike Marshall cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers
topped the Atlanta Braves by a score of 11 to 2 at Fulton Co.
Stadium.

Marshall was really in 'the zone'.  He doubled in the 1st inning, stroked a
one-base hit in the 3rd inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run in
the 4th inning and bombed a two-run dinger (his 20th of the season) in the
5th inning.  For the game Los Angeles out-hit Atlanta 14 to 11.

The victory went to Jerry Reuss(16-9) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs. The
loss was charged to Phil Niekro(10-7).  He couldn't find the strike zone and
allowed 6 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.

'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Marshall said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and
not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by
game, and pitch by pitch.'
