Ron Cey launched 2 homeruns and scored 3 times at WRIGLEY FIELD where the
Chicago NL Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 4 to 2.
 
Cey made sure the Chicago NL fans enjoyed themselves.  He lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' in the 1st inning and delivered a solo blast (his 32nd of the
season) in the 4th inning.  Chicago NL totaled 8 on the night. 
 
Dave Geisel(1-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Dave
Rucker(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He gave up 1 hit and no walks
in 2/3 of an inning.

In a close game it was the Chicago NL Cubs 4, the Los Angeles Dodgers 2 at
WRIGLEY FIELD.
 
Chicago NL claimed the early lead in the first inning when they scored 3 runs
on 3 hits.  That early scoring was all that Chuck Rainey(9-15) needed.  Los
Angeles had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. 
 
Frank Dipino recorded his 3rd save.  The loss was charged to Burt Hooton(4-5).
He surrendered 4 runs and 7 hits in 7 innings.

Shortstop Larry Bowa had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated
the hopeless Chicago NL Cubs in 11 innings by a score of 10 to 7 at WRIGLEY
FIELD.
 
The score was knotted at 6 after nine innings.  Los Angeles came out the
victor in the 11th inning.  The critical plate appearance was by Bowa who
quieted the crowd when he doubled bringing in two baserunners.  For the game
Los Angeles out-hit Chicago NL 19 to 9. 
 
The win went to Dave Rucker(1-1) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Rich
Bordi(1-1) absorbed the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 hits and no walks in 1

Dodgers outscored the woeful Chicago NL Cubs 6 to 3.
 
In the top of the 2nd inning Los Angeles went on top for good scoring 2 runs
using 2 hits.  Steve Kemp got things going when he laced a base-knock, and an
error was also committed.  Guerrero was next and he tripled knocking in a
run.  Mike Scioscia then hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the
inning.  Both teams ended up with 9 on the afternoon.
