37,499 fans watched an exciting game at Tiger Stadium.  The Detroit Tigers
topped the New York AL Yankees by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
 
Ron Kline(1-0) did the job in relief, and he got credit for the win.  He
surrendered 1 hit and 2 walks in 2 innings.  Detroit had 9 hits overall,
while New York AL had 5.

One run was the difference at Tiger Stadium as the New York ALYankees
defeated the Detroit Tigers in 10 innings 5 to 4.
 
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.  New York AL won the
game in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Felix Mantilla smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 2nd of the season).  Both teams finished the game
with 8 hits.

First baseman Norm Cash launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI asthe Detroit
Tigers topped the New York AL Yankees by a score of 9 to 3 at Tiger
Stadium.
 
It was a good day for Detroit thanks to Cash.  He belted a three-run homer in
the 3rd inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 3rd of the season) in
the 4th inning.  Overall Detroit out-hit New York AL 14 to 6. 
 
Bob Friend(1-0) got the win allowing 3 runs in 8 innings. Whitey Ford(0-1) was
tagged with the loss.  He served up 3 homeruns in his 4 innings.
