The Chicago AL White Sox registered 4 runs in the 3rd inning and edged the
Kansas City A's at Municipal Stadium by the score of 7 to 6.

Gary Peters(1-0) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win.  He was
reached for 9 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings.  Kansas City threatened
in the 9th but Chicago AL was able to put down the rally.

Hoyt Wilhelm was credited with his 1st save.  Fred Talbot(0-1) was the losing
pitcher.  He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 6 and 2/3 innings of work.

'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Kansas City's manager said.
'We did what we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'

In a lop-sided win the Kansas City A's ripped the Chicago AL White Sox by a 10
to 3 count.

The game started off with Kansas City taking the lead in the first with 2
runs.  Bert Campaneris kicked off the action when he was hit by a pitch.
Campaneris got a great jump and stole second easily.  After an out was
recorded, Roger Maris stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk.  Kansas
City continued their aggressive style with another stolen base.  Dick Allen
stepped into the box and laced a one-base hit driving home two runs.  Chicago
AL was out-hit by Kansas City, 13 hits to 8.

Mike McCormick(1-0) was the winner allowing 1 run in 5 and 2/3 innings. Joel
Horlen(0-1) was hit with the loss.  He pitched 6 innings allowing 8 hits and
1 walk.
