Bob Welch went 8 strong innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the
Atlanta Braves by a score of 3 to 2 at Fulton Co. Stadium.
Atlanta surrendered all of the runs Los Angeles needed in the 7th inning
scoring 3 runners on 4 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Bill
Doran who silenced the stadium when he delivered a base-hit plating two runs.
Atlanta threatened in the 9th but Los Angeles was able to put down the
rally. 
The winning pitcher was Welch(8-7) who allowed 2 runs in 8 innings. Welch was
helped out by Greg Minton who recorded his 11th save.  Rick Mahler(11-10)
ended up with the loss.  He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 4 hits
and 1 walk.

One run was the difference at Fulton Co. Stadium as the Atlanta Braves
defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6 to 5.
Atlanta went ahead for good in the 7th inning plating an isolated run.  Los
Angeles threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. 
Jeff Dedmon(4-5) went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Terry
Forster earned the save, his 3rd.  Fernando Valenzuela(14-6) suffered the
loss.  'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said Billy Vanson
'But we have to get over it and get ready for the next game.'

Craig McMurtry(7-6)with the help of the bullpen handcuffed the Los Angeles
Dodgers batters at Fulton Co. Stadium in an evening game.  The Atlanta Braves
scored 6 runs for the win.
Los Angeles fell behind quickly as the Atlanta offense came through in the
first inning plating an isolated run.  That early scoring held up.  Atlanta
out-hit Los Angeles for the game, 9 hits to 4. 
Orel Hershiser(4-8) ended up with the loss.  He pitched 8 innings allowing 9
hits and no walks.

John Candelaria had a strong outing as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the
Atlanta Braves 6 to 1 at Fulton Co. Stadium.
In the top of the 3rd inning Los Angeles scored 3 runs when they had 4 base
hits.  That scoring would be all that was needed.  Overall Los Angeles
out-hit Atlanta 10 to 2. 
Candelaria(14-3) went 7 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Mike Caldwell(2-3)
