The Montreal Expos were able to stop their 6 game losing streak and nipped the
Los Angeles Dodgers in 10 innings 5 to 4 at Olympic Stadium in a hard fought
contest.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings.  Montreal was victorious
in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Spike Owen kicked off the
action when he smacked a single.  Mike Schmidt was next and he delivered a
base-hit.  Andre Dawson then slapped a one-base hit.  Mike Fitzgerald was up
next and he was walked intentionally to load the bases.  One out later,
Harold Baines stepped in and he drew a walk.  Both teams finished the game
with 10 hits.
The win went to Mike Armstrong(6-5) who allowed 1 run in 1 inning. Lee
Smith(2-7) absorbed the loss in relief.  He surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits in
1 and 1/3 innings.

Third baseman Mike Schmidt hit one over the fence and had 4 RBI at Olympic
Stadium as the Montreal Expos won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the
Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 6 to 4.
Montreal came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits.  Tim Raines kicked off the action when he stroked a
base-hit.  Bryan Little came to the plate and lined a one-base hit.  Schmidt
then lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his 32nd of the season)
making Montreal the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.
Montreal had 13 hits for the game and Los Angeles had 7.
Mark Calvert(4-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Lee Smith(2-8)
was the loser in relief.  'We just wouldn't give up,' Schmidt said. 'Much of
the credit goes to our fans - they were with us the whole way.'
