Sept 3

Center fielder Dale Murphy hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Atlanta Braves
topped the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 4 to 3 at Fulton Co.
Stadium.
Craig McMurtry(8-9) was solid if not spectacular.  He surrendered 8 hits and 5
walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  McMurtry chalked up 7 strikeouts.  Atlanta
totaled 7 hits on the night.
McMurtry got help from Dave Beard who earned his 1st save.  John
Candelaria(16-5) was the loser.  'I was a little good, a little bad and a
little ugly.' said McMurtry, 'I was just giving us a chance to win.'

Rick Honeycutt pitched 6 strong innings at Fulton Co. Stadium as the Los
Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 8 to 0.
Atlanta was unable to claim the lead after Los Angeles went ahead in the 3rd
inning as they scored 3 runs on 4 base hits.  That early run support was
enough for Honeycutt(8-17) and Los Angeles.  Los Angeles had 14 hits overall,
while Atlanta had 7.
Mike Caldwell(2-5) took the loss.  He allowed 4 runs and 7 hits in 7 innings.

Sept 5

The Atlanta Braves had an easy time of it at Fulton Co. Stadium defeating the
Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 8 to 3.
The Atlanta fans enjoyed the offense provided by Glenn Hubbard.  He lashed a
single in the 3rd inning and brought the hometown folks to their feet with a
Grand Slammer (his 9th of the season) in the 4th inning.  Atlanta had 8 hits
overall, while Los Angeles had 2.
Joe Niekro(14-12) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Bob
Welch(8-10) absorbed the loss.  He gave up 7 runs in 4 innings and saw his
ERA jump from 4.25 to 4.52.
