Sept 3 Center fielder Dale Murphy hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Atlanta Braves topped the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 4 to 3 at Fulton Co. Stadium. Craig McMurtry(8-9) was solid if not spectacular. He surrendered 8 hits and 5 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. McMurtry chalked up 7 strikeouts. Atlanta totaled 7 hits on the night. McMurtry got help from Dave Beard who earned his 1st save. John Candelaria(16-5) was the loser. 'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said McMurtry, 'I was just giving us a chance to win.'
