The Chicago AL White Sox edged the Washington Senators at D.C. Stadium by the
score of 4 to 3.
Chicago AL had 2 runs cross the plate in the 7th inning when they had 3 base
hits. It was enough to earn the victory. Washington threatened in the 9th
but Chicago AL was able to put down the rally.
The victory was credited to Turk Farrell(2-2) who went 7 innings, allowing 2
runs. Farrell got help from Hoyt Wilhelm who was credited with his 4th save.
Steve Ridzik(0-2) took the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 runs in 1 and
2/3 innings and saw his ERA increase from 3.00 to 4.22.

Wade Blasingame had 2 base hits as the Washington Senators beat the Chicago AL
White Sox by a score of 1 to 0.
Blasingame(2-3) looked very much in control throughout the night. He gave up
just 2 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.35 to 3.46.
Chicago AL made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.
Ted Abernathy gained credit for his 4th save. Bruce Howard(1-2) was the
losing pitcher. It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned
run in his 6 innings of work.
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Chicago AL's
manager said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say
they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'

First baseman Lee Thomas rocketed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Joel Horlen
tossed a fine 2 hitter as the Chicago AL White Sox beat the Washington

Thomas provided much of the offense. He smacked a three-run homer in the 3rd
inning and delivered a solo blast (his 4th of the season) in the 7th inning.
Chicago AL totaled 10 on the afternoon.
Horlen(2-1) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Ray Culp(1-3) was
charged with the loss. His ERA increased from 3.34 to 4.15 as he allowed 5
runs in 5 innings.
'I've been working on a few things in my delivery, and I think I'm hitting a
good groove.' Horlen said after the game. 'I'm ready to start another game
tomorrow!'
