5/1/65 Horlen v Lolich Horlen and Lolich hook up in a classic pitcher's duel. Unfortunately, the quality of fielding made it look like an 1880s game. Alex Johnson facilitates the Tigers' first run by misplaying a hit in LF. But he then redeems himself with a game-tying home run. McAuliffe and Conigliaro collaborate with sloppy play to give the Chisox 2 more runs. Another McAuliffe error helps the Sox get 2 more the next inning. All runs but 1 were unearned in the 5-1Chicago win.
5/2/65 John v Podres The Tigers roll 2 16s on 1-15 BP homers in the first 2 innings. Alex Johnson gets another circuit clout. Demeter guns Skowron down at the plate to end the 4th. Floyd Robinson smashes a pinch home run off reliever Fred Gladding in the 6th. Demeter reties the game with a Sac Fly the next inning. Bill Freehan follows up with a 2-run shot to make it 5-3 Detroit . Hal Woodeshick shuts down the vulnerable-to-lefties White Sox in relief after several LH defensive subs come in. Final 7-3.
5/3/65 Peters v Friend Al Kaline hits 2 HR and Don Demeter 1 in the Tigers'4-3 win. Kaline's second blast was a walk-off shot off Pete Mikkelsen. Wilhelm gets hung with his 3rd Blown Save.
