may 18 At Municipal Stadium the Kansas City A's outscored the New York AL Yankees 9 to 6. Kansas City had 3 runs cross the plate in the 6th inning. The critical plate appearance was by Dick Allen who brought the crowd to their feet when he doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond. New York AL was set down quietly in the 9th. Jim Dickson(3-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 and 2/3 innings. Al Downing(2-6) was the loser. He was unable to control the Kansas City offense and allowed 9 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
