Subject: Manager opening in the GGSL
I apologize to those who receive this message more than one time because of the mass e-mail to multiple groups...... The Greatest Generation Strat League (GGSL) has a manager opening. We will finish the 1954 playoffs and World Series over the next couple of weeks. For 1955, we are expanding the league from 12 to 14 teams. I have filled one of the two vacancies for the expansion clubs, so I need one more manager. The expansion draft will begin in early December.
GGSL is a keeper league and each team can protect up to 25 players before each yearly draft. We play by e-mail and optional net play. We play a relatively fast pace, with each 162 game season taking about 3 1/2 months. For 1955, each of the two expansion teams will participate in a separate expansion draft to pick up 24 players not protected by existing teams. Then we will have a regular draft that consists of new players and unprotected players from the 12 existing teams. The two expansion teams will get the first two picks, with a dice roll or coin flip to determine the lucky winner of the top pick. The rookie crop is decent in 1955, with Clemente and Koufax being at the top of the list.
We do not have a league website, but we do have our Yahoo Groups site. Also, our constitution will be revamped over the next several weeks as we transition into the expansion year, and as I make some changes to the rules.
This is a great league with a stable of solid managers, some of whom have been onboard since the inception of the league for the 1939 season. Others have 5 to 10 seasons in the league. If you are interested, I can send you a pre-cut league file for 1955. If you wish, you may pass the word to other leagues or your friends who are Strat fanatics. Thanks!
