I've known Charlie Steinhice for now most of my life. Charlie's one of my nearest and dearest friends. And yet... Drew, so help me God, someday, I will get you for getting him started on these Chattanooga stories. I may video record him telling these stories, and force you to watch that recording, Clockwork Orange style (That might be too cruel, though.) But oh yes... I will get you for this.

Drew's right, and Guetterman (who was born in Chattanooga
while his parents were in college) was probably third as a sure thing to
Donnell Nixon and a reliever named Mike Johnson, who tore his rotator cuff.
Mickey Brantley and (briefly) Scott Nielsen were on that team too, along with
former big leaguers John Moses and Paul Serna and future big league pitching
coach Rick Adair. Lordamighty, this takes me back? Grimsley was the pitching coach at the time, and a charming
flake. The manager was Bill Plummer, who was a total SOB with zero
integrity (and ignored the warning signs for Johnson's rotator cuff.)
When he was with the Mariners and screwed up the lineup card so the pitcher had
to bat, well, I just smiled. I got to meet several future major leaguers from other Southern
League teams ? Andres Galarraga, Fred McGriff, Mark Bailey, the late Mike
Sharperson ? as well as interviewing several former major leaguers. We
had Dale Long as a guest in the booth the night there were 3 inside-the-park
homers in one game; he said he'd never seen that happen before. Vada
Pinson was absolutely brilliant. I think Hoyt Wilhelm was drunk.
But the highlight was interviewing Brooks Robinson and knowing a few obscure questions
to ask because I'd done a book report on his autobiography in 7th
grade. P.S. Even in AA, they brought us free food to the press
box in most cities. The most significant dental work of my life can be
traced to a chicken wing in Jacksonville. Lee Guterman is the major leaguer who sticks out from their
roster, and as he led the team in wins, likely you announced one of his starts Also, old Ross Grimsley piched 2 innings, likely a rehab
appearance
