The New York NL Mets edged the Los Angeles Dodgers at Shea Stadium by the
score of 3 to 2.
New York NL came up with 1 run in the 6th inning with the help of 3 hits.
That proved to be the deciding run.  Los Angeles threatened in the 9th but
New York NL was able to put down the rally. 
Ron Darling(6-1) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Darling
got help from Jesse Orosco who earned his 8th save.  Fernando Valenzuela(4-3)
was the losing pitcher.  He was touched for 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.

Davey Lopes lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and Bob Ojeda threw a complete
game shutout at Shea Stadium as the New York NL Mets beat the Los Angeles
Dodgers by the count of 5 to 0.
Ojeda(4-2) put on a good performance.  He gave up just 7 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings reducing his ERA from 2.79 to 2.29.  New York NL rapped out 9 hits
for the night. 
Rick Honeycutt(3-3) was charged with the loss.  He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks
in 6 innings.

Ron Oester had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New
York NL Mets by the score of 9 to 4 at Shea Stadium.
Los Angeles took the lead for good in the top of the 2nd inning scoring 2 runs
on 4 hits.  Franklin Stubbs started the attack as he delivered a solo blast
(his 7th of the season).  Oester came next and he banged out a single.  Brook
Jacoby then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Mike Scioscia was up next and he
slapped a single.  One out later, Dickie Thon came up and he ripped a
base-knock.  Los Angeles ended up with 15 hits for the game while New York NL
had 7. 
The victory went to Danny Darwin(5-1) who went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Rick Aguilera(1-3) was charged with the loss.  He was knocked around,
surrendering 5 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
