Left fielder Kirk Gibson blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI at Fulton Co Stadium
as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the pathetic Atlanta Braves 8 to 2.

Los Angeles set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring 2 runs.  Milt
Thompson led off and started the rally when he laced a single.  Rick Burleson
next to the plate and he drew a walk.  Ron Oester then laid down a sacrifice
bunt.  Ron Romanick then let a pitch get away from him.  Gibson stepped into
the box and would ground out.  Overall Los Angeles out-hit Atlanta 14 to 7.

Rick Honeycutt(10-8) allowed 2 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Romanick(1-13) was tagged with the loss.  He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 10 hits and 4 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

SEPT 3

The Atlanta Braves edged the Los Angeles Dodgers at Fulton Co Stadium by the
score of 5 to 4.

Atlanta came up with 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning.  That early run
support was enough for Tim Leary(9-16) and Atlanta.  The pitchers took over
after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again.

Doug Bair recorded the save, his 1st.  Mario Soto(4-8) suffered the loss.  He
allowed Atlanta 5 runs in 4 innings of work.  'I was a little good, a little
bad and a little ugly.' said Leary, 'I was just giving us a chance to win.'
