Dennis Martinez delivered 9 solid innings as the Montreal Expos outscored the
Los Angeles Dodgers 7 to 1.
The game started off with Montreal taking the lead in the first when they
tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for
Martinez(5-2) and Montreal. That was all the run support Martinez required.
Montreal managed 13 hits in their victory.
The loss was charged to Orel Hershiser(6-6). He was not very effective,
surrendering 7 runs in 5 innings. Steve Bivens was very impressed with his
pitcher, Martinez, 'He had unusually good pitch placement tonight. It was
almost unfair - but a beautiful game to watch from where I sat'

Third baseman Brook Jacoby touched them all at Olympic Stadium as the Los
Angeles Dodgers beat the Montreal Expos 4 to 2.
Los Angeles tallied 3 runs in the 3rd inning with the help of 3 hits. Mike
Scioscia started the inning off right when he doubled. One out later, Glenn
Wilson was the next batter, but he struck out. Franklin Stubbs then doubled,
and an error was also committed. Jacoby came up and he cracked a solo
homerun. Kirk Gibson got his chance to keep things going, but he went down
on strikes. That early scoring was all that Rick Honeycutt(1-1) needed.
Montreal was out-hit by Los Angeles, 12 hits to 8.
Lee Smith earned his 10th save. Charlie Puleo(5-3) was given the loss. He
got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
