smacked 2 homeruns as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers
2 to 0 at THREE RIVERS STADIUM.
Candiotti(5-6) was tremendous on the mound for Pittsburgh. He was stingy on
the mound, allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA
from 4.68 to 4.32. Pittsburgh rapped out 8 hits for the night.
Jim Deshaies(4-9) absorbed the loss. Billy Vanson was obviously impressed
with the pitching of Candiotti, 'That guy made us look a little silly out
there tonight. We just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working
for him. I just hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.'

drew a walk. Orel Hershiser stepped into the box and laid down a sacrifice
bunt. Dave Concepcion added to the outburst and was walked intentionally to
load the bases. Los Angeles had 9 hits overall, while Pittsburgh had 6.
