In a tight game it was the Los Angeles Dodgers 5, the Atlanta Braves 3 at
Fulton Co. Stadium.
Atlanta fell behind quickly as the Los Angeles offense came through in the
first inning scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by
Brook Jacoby who silenced Fulton Co. Stadium as he popped a two-run clout
over the fence. Los Angeles had a total of 8 hits for the game.
The victory went to Dan Petry(4-7) who went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs. Lee
Smith earned the save, his 20th. Doug Drabek(8-8) was given the loss.
Los Angeles now has a record of 40-60. Atlanta can't seem to snap out of
their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last
couple weeks.

Ken Griffey added four ribbies to his seasonal total with one swing of the bat
as the Atlanta Braves outscored the Los Angeles Dodgers 7 to 6.
Griffey had a good day at the plate. He doubled in the 6th inning and
launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 7th inning. Los Angeles made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Bill Dawley(5-0) was the winner allowing 1 run in 2 innings. Dawley got help
from Jim Acker who earned his 18th save. Orel Hershiser(9-12) was hit with
the loss.
'Some losses are harder to take than others' Billy Vanson lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'
