Yankee pitchers issue 29 walks in the 4 games. Ford and Bouton continue their nightmares. White Sox resurgence too little too late in this disappointment of a season.

Bob Locker had a strong outing and Joe Morgan connected with a 'big fly' and
had 3 RBI at Yankee Stadium as the Chicago AL White Sox beat the New York AL
Yankees 9 to 4.

Gary Peters(10-8) pitched well for Chicago AL in their victory. He was
reached for 4 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings. Peters whiffed an impressive
total of 7 New York AL batters. Locker pitched a perfect ninth to earn his
4th save.

The losing pitcher was Jim Bouton(3-8). He served up 3 gopher balls in 5
innings. With this win, Chicago AL has a 65-68 record. They have been 7-3
lately. New York AL can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they
have a miserable 2-8 record over the last couple weeks.

The Chicago AL White Sox nipped the New York AL Yankees 6 to 5 at Yankee
Stadium in a hard fought contest.

Tommy John(11-10) earned his pay with a solid performance for John. He went 7
innings allowing 3 hits and 2 walks. New York AL made it exciting in the
9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Hoyt Wilhelm recorded the save, his 23rd. Al Downing(9-13) was hit with the
loss. He gave up 6 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings of work. Despite losing New
York AL's manager was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over this one.
Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one of a dozen
little things go different, and we come out on top.'
