I will send a new manager after getting all of this weeks result.
Game 1 Vance Law ripped 2 homeruns and scored 3 times at SHEA STADIUM as the Montreal Expos beat the New York NL Mets in 11 innings 9 to 4. Montreal out-hit New York NL for the game, 13 hits to 7. Gary Carter hit two home runs for New York .
Luis Aguayo led off the top of the 11th inning with a solo shot (his 7th) off reliever Joe Price. The roof then caved in as Price gave up 3 more runs in the inning.
The victory went to Jeff Parrett (2-0) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs. Joe Price (2-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed Montreal 5 runs in 2 innings of work.
The Montreal ballclub's record now stands at 86-61. With the loss New York NL now has a record of 86-61.
Game 2 Mike Scott shut down the Montreal batters on just 3 hits at SHEA STADIUM as the potent New York NL Mets beat the Montreal Expos by the count of 6 to 0.
Scott (14-8) escaped virtually unscathed against the Montreal hitters. He allowed only 3 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. New York NL finished with 9 hits in the victory.
Dennis Martinez (9-9) suffered the loss. He allowed 3 runs and 5 hits in 5 innings.
Game 3 The Montreal Expos nipped the New York NL Mets 3 to 2 at SHEA STADIUM in a hard fought contest. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. Keith Hernandez hit a solo homerun (his 18th) off Perez.
David Cone meanwhile had not allowed a hit to the Expos going into the top of the eighth inning. After Galaraga grounded out, Tim Raines walked. Vance Law then broke up the no-hitter with a single to center sending Raines to third. Manager Hal immediately pulled Cone (must have been looking tired) in favor of Jesse Orosco. Luis Aguayo came on to hit for Harold Baines and he launched his 8th homerun of the year to give the Expos a 3-1 lead.
Lee Mazzilli’s ninth inning home run off Tim Burke was not enough and the Expos escaped with a 3-2 victory.
The win was credited to Pascual Perez (3-1) who went 7 innings allowing 1 run. Tim Burke got the save, his 40th. David Cone (6-3) was tagged with the loss.
Game 4 Tim Teufel had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the phenomenal New York NL Mets defeated the Montreal Expos 5 to 3 at SHEA STADIUM. New York NL rapped out 7 hits for the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Dwight Gooden (14-5) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Jesse Orosco recorded the save, his 11th. Floyd Youmans (8-6) took the loss. He allowed 5 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings.
New York NL now has a record of 88-62. Montreal has a record of 87-63 after the loss.
