16,515 fans were treated to a fine game at CANDLESTICK PARK as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The San Francisco Giants won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Mike Krukow(10-7) gave San Francisco a solid outing.  He went 6 innings
allowing 7 hits and 1 walk.  Los Angeles threatened in the 9th but San
Francisco was able to put down the rally.
Scott Garrelts earned his 31st save.  Orel Hershiser(13-17) was hit with the
loss.  It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 8
innings of work.

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants by a score of 8 to 5
at CANDLESTICK PARK.
Los Angeles came up with 6 runs in the 7th inning when they had 4 base hits.
The key at-bat was by Eddie Murray who deflated the spirits of the home town
crowd when he smacked a three-run homer.  San Francisco made it exciting in
the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Dan Petry(6-12) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Lee Smith
earned his 28th save.  The losing pitcher was Mark Clear(2-2) in relief.
