separated the combatants at game's end. The San Francisco Giants won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Mike Krukow(10-7) gave San Francisco a solid outing. He went 6 innings
allowing 7 hits and 1 walk. Los Angeles threatened in the 9th but San
Francisco was able to put down the rally.
Scott Garrelts earned his 31st save. Orel Hershiser(13-17) was hit with the
loss. It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 8
innings of work.

their rally came up short.

Los Angeles came up with 6 runs in the 7th inning when they had 4 base hits.
The key at-bat was by Eddie Murray who deflated the spirits of the home town
crowd when he smacked a three-run homer. San Francisco made it exciting in
the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
