Six homeruns, 5 errors and 17 men LOB for both teams. Senators survive homeruns by Dick Howser and Sandy Valdespino to hang on for the win.
Chuck Hiller went deep and scored 3 times at Metropolitan Stadium where the Washington Senators beat the Minnesota Twins 9 to 7.
Washington claimed the early lead in the first inning when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. The key at-bat was by Jim King who quieted the crowd when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 9th of the season). Ted Abernathy earned the save with a perfect ninth, his 39th save.
Ray Culp(11-14) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Mudcat Grant(14-15) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 6 runs and 5 hits in 6 innings.
