Third baseman Woodie Held smacked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Washington Senators outscored the Minnesota Twins 12 to 4.
Held provided much of the offense. He smacked a three-run homer in the 1st inning and blasted a solo shot (his 24th of the season) in the 9th inning. Washington had 13 hits for the game and Minnesota had 7.
Wade Blasingame (15-10) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Don Nottebart (13-11) was the losing pitcher. He was not very effective, surrendering 11 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
