Game 1 At DODGER STADIUM, the Los Angeles faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's duel. Pascual Perez (11-10) finally bested his Los Angeles counterpart, Jim Deshaies (4-10), by the score of 2 to 1.
Montreal jumped on top of Los Angeles in the 2nd inning scoring one runner on 2 base hits. Ron Karkovice doubled. Terry Francona stepped up next and he doubled. Marquis Grissom then drew a walk. Deshaies then uncorked a pitch that was ruled a passed ball. Perez dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Montreal finished with 7 hits in the victory.
Jerry Reed was credited with his 7th save. Deshaies was hit with the loss. He pitched 7 innings giving up 6 hits and 2 walks. Game 2 In a thriller the Los Angeles Dodgers staged a dramatic comeback over the Montreal Expos winning by a score of 5 to 4 at DODGER STADIUM.
Los Angeles erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning when they tallied 4 runs on 3 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Ruben Sierra who made the Los Angeles fans a happy lot when he doubled scoring two baserunners. Montreal was out-hit by Los Angeles , 12 hits to 7.
The win was credited to Kevin Hickey (2-3) who went 2 innings allowing no runs. Andy McGaffigan (1-2) was given the loss in relief. 'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Omar Vizquel noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!' Game 3 Shane Rawley was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the Montreal Expos topped the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 2 to 1 at DODGER STADIUM.
In the top of the 2nd inning Montreal scored 2 runs. The early run support proved sufficient for Rawley (3-5) and Montreal . That was all the run support Rawley required. Neither team managed to score after the 2nd inning.
Roy Smith (10-11) absorbed the loss. He pitched 6 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 walks. Game 4 Mike Morgan went 6 solid innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the dreadful Montreal Expos 1 to 0 at DODGER STADIUM.
The winning run, and the only run, was scored by Los Angeles in the bottom of the 6th inning. After an out was recorded, Ruben Sierra tripled. One out later, Hatcher got a great jump and stole second easily. Rich Gedman then reached on an error. Omar Vizquel followed next and he reached on an error. Kal Daniels stepped into the box and reached on an error. Jeff Kunkel dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Montreal was out-hit by Los Angeles, 5 hits to 2.
The win went to Morgan (10-4) who allowed no runs in 6 innings. Morgan was helped out by Danny Darwin who recorded his 2nd save. Dennis Martinez (3-12) was tagged with the loss. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 8 innings and not allowing an earned run.
