Whitey Ford came through with a solid 10 innings as the New York AL Yankees
beat the Detroit Tigers in 10 innings by a score of 3 to 2.

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Finally, New York AL pulled the game out
in the 10th inning.  Tom Tresh doubled.  Ron Kline then was wild with a
pitch.  Clete Boyer then laced a base-hit giving New York AL the win and
sending the home town fans into a frenzy.  New York AL had 10 hits for the
night.

The winning pitcher was Ford(1-0) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Kline(0-1)
was charged with the loss in relief.

'We didn't have a whole lot of chances tonight,' Detroit's manager said.
'Ford just was too much for our guys.'

GAME TWO
A very nice late-inning rally to overcome the heroics of Elston Howard. Nice.
