Gary Peters shutout New York AL while allowing the Chicago AL bullpen a
day-off at Yankee Stadium where the Chicago AL White Sox beat the New York AL
Yankees 5 to 0.
 
Peters(2-2) was in control of the game from the outset.  He allowed just 6
hits and 2 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 4.38.  Chicago AL managed 7
in their victory. 
 
Sam McDowell(1-2) absorbed the loss.  He allowed 3 runs and 5 hits in 6
innings.

In a tight game it was the Chicago AL White Sox 6, the New York AL Yankees 4
at Yankee Stadium.
 
The game started off with Chicago AL taking the lead in the first scoring 2
runners on 3 hits.  New York AL could do no damage in the bottom of the 9th.
 
Jack Kralick(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing
4 runs. Hoyt Wilhelm earned his 2nd save.  Al Downing(2-3) took the loss.  He
allowed 5 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings.

The Chicago AL White Sox tallied 5 runs in the 9th inning and had very little
trouble at Yankee Stadium downing the New York AL Yankees.  The score was 11
to 4.
 
Chicago AL came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 8th inning with 3
runs using 5 hits.  Don Buford led off and started the rally when he laced a
single.  Lee Thomas came next and he doubled knocking in a run.  Pete Ward
then slapped a one-base hit.  After an out was recorded, Ron Hansen stepped
up to the plate and he smacked a single which accounted for two additional
runs.  New York AL was out-hit by Chicago AL, 14 hits to 9. 
 
Turk Farrell(1-3) went 8 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. The losing
pitcher was Ralph Terry(0-1) in relief.  He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 2
innings.

Joe Morgan had 2 base hits as the Chicago AL White Sox topped the struggling
New York AL Yankees in 14 innings by a score of 3 to 2 at Yankee
Stadium.
 
The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings.  Finally, Chicago AL
pulled the game out in the 14th inning.  Pete Ward led off and keyed the
rally when he slapped a base-hit.  Floyd Robinson next to the plate and he
lashed a single.  After an out was recorded, Ron Hansen came up and he would
hit into a fielders choice resulting in a run.  Lee Thomas followed and he
hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning.  Chicago AL managed 9 in
their victory. 
 
Pete Mikkelsen(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 2 innings. Stan
Williams(0-2) was the loser in relief.  He allowed 2 hits and 1 walk in 1
inning.
