Twins outscored the New York AL Yankees 5 to 2.

In the top of the 4th inning Minnesota scored 3 runs when they came up with 4
base hits.  The big moment was provided by Dale Sveum who silenced the crowd
when he stroked a single plating two runs.  Both teams' bats went to sleep
after the 4th inning with no runs scored after that point.

Scott Erickson(8-2) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. David West
earned the save, his 4th.  The losing pitcher was Charlie Leibrandt(6-11).
He got hit hard, allowing 12 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.

Luis Polonia had 5 hits and 3 RBI as the Minnesota Twins beat the New York AL
Yankees by a score of 10 to 4.

Polonia led the offense for Minnesota.  He slapped a single in the 1st inning,
laced a base-knock scoring two baserunners in the 2nd inning, tripled in the
6th inning, stroked a one-base hit bringing in a run in the 7th inning and
lashed a single in the 9th inning.  Offensively, Minnesota was a juggernaut.
They scored in 6 separate innings.

Kevin Tapani(9-6) was the winner allowing no runs in 5 innings. The loss was
charged to Pete Smith(2-5).  He allowed 12 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3
