Baltimore had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs. Chuck Hinton led off and he drew a walk. Sam Bowens stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. Boog Powell followed, but he was set down on strikes. Brooks Robinson got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Jackie Brandt stepped into the box and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 3rd of the season) making Baltimore victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. Harvey Haddix(4-1) went 1 inning allowing 1 run for the victory. Pete Mikkelsen(3-1) absorbed the loss in relief. His ERA ballooned from 2.79 to 3.98 as he allowed 3 runs in 1 inning. Baltimore's manager was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on.
