Sox and Rangers split the series thanks mainly to the longball (or lack of)

game 1: Kind of strange to say a pitcher that gave up 6 runs in 8 innings pitched a good game but Mike Gardiner did that...as long as he stayed away from a 6-5 roll.  It's a hr 1-10 flyout chance that the Rangers got 3 times.  The splits were 7,8,7 and resulted in 5 of the 6 Ranger runs. Meanwhile the Sox had a whole lot of nuthin' going on against Nolan Ryan until the 8th. Brunansky singled to open the inning and Plantier followed with a 2b (hr 1-7 got a 17....see game 4 also). A groundout and single brought them both in and chased Ryan. Bruno finally connected on a hr in the 9th to make the final 6-4.

game 2: Boston left nothing to chance in this one. Single, walk, double (bruno missed a 1-13 hr), walk started the game and led to a 3 run first. It could have been worse as Ortiz rolled his 1 column and somehow made an out and Ramirez followed with a clutch out. Bruno had an rbi single in the 2nd before Jacoby hit a 3 run bp homer to chase Bohanon. A triple and double scored another in the 3rd and Ramirez had a 2 run 2b in the 4th to make it 10-0. After 5 innings of 4-6 and 4-7 walks, Ojeda finally cracked some in the 6th. After 2 quick outs, single single and then an 8 on a 1-8 bp homer got the Rangers on the board. Only 3 batters reached base the rest of the game, 2 of them were Ellis Burk home runs and Boston cruised 12-3.

game 3: Scoreless into the 3rd, Boston loaded the bases with one out but Bruno could only get a flyballC that left them loaded. Rob Deer unloaded them as he finally rolled his loaded 3 column (8 of the 11 rolls are hr or bp hr chances) and Boston had a 4-0 lead. 2 innings later the Sox struck again. Back to back lead off 2b's by Reed and Fermin were followed by back to back homers by Bruno and Deer. Rangers weren't doing much against Dopson until the 7th, when they started with 3 singles and a walk to get on the board. Another single and a sac fly got them within 5, but Reed doubled again and scored on a Fermin single to make the final 9-3. Fermin went 5-5 in the game.

game 4: Palmer's bp homer in the 2nd got the Rangers the early lead. In the 3rd, Boston had a runner on 2nd and Valentin rolled his 2 column. There is only 1 roll in the column that wasn't a hit chance and it doesn't take a genius to figure out what he rolled and Boston didn't score. Frye doubled in 2 in the 3rd and Rodriguez doubled in a run in the 4th and it was 4-0. In the 6th, Valentin doubled and Cooper walked with 1 out. Vaughn came up and had a hr1-10 and got a 20 for a double. Plantier followed with a hr 1-7 and got a 17 for a double and Boston ended the inning 1 run down. Rodriguez drove in an insurance run with a 2 out single in the 7th to make the final 5-3.  Joe Hesketh dropped his era to 9 by allowing 5 runs in 7.1 innings. He allowed 11 hits but had 11 strikeouts.
