may 26 Mel Stottlemyre whitewashed Cincinnati on 1 hit and Clete Boyer connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the New York AL Yankees defeated the Cincinnati Reds 6 to 0 at Crosley Field. Stottlemyre(6-4) was virtually untouchable. He gave up just 1 hit and 1 walk in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.66 to 4.02. New York AL had a total of 12 hits for the game.
