Expos clobber Eric Hillman to take an 8-2 lead after only 3 ½ innings. The Mets chip away at Butch Henry who actually pitched pretty well but was victimized by TWO Moises Alou dropped fly balls (virtually negating his three-run home run). Expos push the lead to 9-5 but in the bottom of the ninth John Wetteland runs out of gas and loads the bases. Rojas comes in with two out and gives up a three-run double to pinch-hitter Darryl Strawberry. Robby Thompson comes in to hit for Howell but is retired on a groundball to short and the Expos escape with the 9-8 win. Way too close for comfort!

Butch Henry(7-8) pitched well for
Montreal in their victory. He allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. New York NL made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Mel Rojas recorded his 43rd save. Eric Hillman(0-1) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 4 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings. 'I struggled a bit out there tonight,' Henry said, 'but I toughed it out and we got the win.'
