History was made in Milwaukee as Cal Eldred(2-0) tossed a no-hitter and the
Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Minnesota Twins by the score of 6 to
0.
Eldred had overwhelming stuff tonight.  He simply never gave the Minnesota
batters a decent pitch to drive.  He walked 6 Minnesota batters.  The tension
was mounting with every inning after the 6th.  Eldred appeared oblivious
himself to the mounting history until two were out in the 9th.  Only then,
did he allow himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound.
Milwaukee had 11 hits for the night.

Willie Banks(0-3) was the loser.  He was unable to control the Milwaukee
offense and allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.

'Eldred made us look bad' Darren Dawson said. 'I've seen a lot of good
performances in my time and this one will be tucked away in my memory bank
for a long time to come'

The Minnesota Twins tallied 4 runs in the 6th inning and nipped the Milwaukee
Brewers 6 to 5 at County Stadium in a hard fought contest.

Minnesota tallied 4 runs in the 6th inning with the help
 of 5 hits.  The
critical plate appearance was by Shane Mack who silenced the stadium when he
doubled clearing the bases.  Milwaukee threatened in the 9th but their rally
came up short.

Kevin Tapani(3-1) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Tapani was
helped out by Rick Aguilera who recorded his 3rd save.  Mike Fetters(2-2) was
tagged with the loss in relief.  He surrendered
2 hits and no walks without
retiring a batter.

'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Tapani said,
'this was one of those times.'
