Sox lose a couple of one run games with a blowout win in the middle.
I'll get the weird stat of the day out of way early. Boston is one of the top teams in the league in doubles yet has no one with more than 14 on the year. They do have 10 players in double digits already (14,14,13,12,12,12,12,11,11,10). They are on pace to have 300 doubles as a team with no one having more than 30 individually.
game 1: Another start, another homer allowed by Clemens and it took him all of 3 batters to do it. He has now allowed 16 (of his 18) on the year. KC added a run in the 2nd before Boston got 2 in the 3rd to tie it up. KC got the go ahead run in the 6th, thanks to a successful hit and run (on a 1-4 1b chance) and held on for the 3-2 win.
game 2: Chris Haney had his best start of the season, tossing 7 shutout innings and lowering his era a whole run to 5.85 (from 6.86). Tony Pena's bases loaded double highlighted a 5 run 3rd inning and Boston rolled 9-1. Sox lost the shutout when Bankhead pulled the perfect Sambito by allowing a bp homer to the first batter he faced in the 8th.
game 3: Teams traded runs in the 2nd and then Tony Pena hit his 4th homer of the year to give Boston the lead in the 3rd. KC quickly answered with a hr,2b,hr to start the bottom of the inning. Cooper tripled and scored in the 7th and Boston left 2 on base in the 9th as KC won 4-3.
