Name files properly. I know most of you are in several leagues and they probably all have different naming requirements. For SMILEY, its the three letter code of the visitors (your team) 3 letter code of the home team (opponent) and the date of the first game of the series.  It may seem like a small thing but it makes it much easier to find a series if it is named properly. The most common mistakes are either using no date, or using the week instead of the date.  For week 1, I  noticed 10 results not named properly, which is almost half the league for example, if atlanta played at baltimore on days 50,51 and 52 the file name should be atnbaa50, not atnbaa or atnbaawk10 or anything  else. 2.  Save files properly. If you do it properly, there should only be 4 files per game. When you save the game, use the next to last option (boxscore, pac and scoresheet). This saves all the info that Alan needs to generate the stats for the website. If you do this then you only need to include this file, the pbp file and the 2 files that get created in the export file of the game. If you forget to save it this way, then you need to include all those individual files.  Name each file with teamcodes and the date of the game.. Again using the example above you would get atnbaa50,atnbaa51 and atnbaa52. When you go to zip the files if you click on the first game file (atnbaa50), then highlight all the files you want, the zipfile will automatically get that name, thus ensuring that #1 above is done correctly.  A 3 game series only needs 12 files. (13 if you wish to include your updated manager rather than send it seperately). 3. Use correct lineups. All teams are encouraged to use 4 settings (for regular and backwards pitchers) but some only use 2 which is fine. You should always check that the correct lineup is used for the home team and not just use the one HAL puts in. For instance, my backward lineups should only be used when the pitcher is a 3 or more, but HAL defaults to it for any backward pitcher. Now with the ability to set up to 50 lineups, a team may have a lineup set for each individual pitcher if they want. If a team only uses 2 lineups (1lefty and 1 righty), use that even if the pitcher is backwards, as that is the only option the manager set up. As the season winds down and usage is a concern, this becomes more important as teams may go with a lot of lineups to keep players from being overused. 4. Use correct manager. Occasionally a manager will ask his opponent to wait for a new manager for the week, whether because of a trade, monitering usage, or whatever. Do not play the games until you receive the new manager or they say the old one is good to use. Make sure you import cm and then give home team their 5 days of rest. OTOH, if you ask your opponent to wait, get them your cm as soon as possible to give them as much time to play the series. 5. Try to get games in as soon as possible. This is more important later in the season when usage is a concern and owners need to see their results to know exactly where a player stands. If results are posted late saturday they may not see them in time to make a cm, leading to either misuse of a player the next week, or making another owner wait so that the cm made be created with the correct stats. If you know you won't be able to get the games in (vacation, game crashes or whatever) ask for an autoplay as soon as possible. Again this gives Alan (or myself) time to play the games and get results posted before saturday night. All of these apply to PreSMILEY as well as many of you have a team there. For item 2, you do not need to include pbp (but feel free to include them), so only 3 files would be needed per game not 4. Thank you for your attention to these details as it makes going back and finding a file much easier.
