In an entertaining game at The Kingdome the final score was the Minnesota Twins 7, the Seattle Mariners 4.
Minnesota came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning with 3 runs on 3 hits. Chili Davis opened up the inning nicely when he delivered a one-base hit. Jose Valentin was next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Pedro Munoz then doubled. One out later, Kirby Puckett stepped in and he was walked intentionally. Sid Bream came up to bat and drew a walk to load the bases. Steve Buechele did his part to keep things going and banged out a single. Minnesota finished with 13 hits while Seattle ended up with 9.
The victory was credited to Mark Eichhorn(1-1) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Eichhorn got relief help from Rick Aguilera who gained credit for his 2nd save. Bill Risley(0-1) took the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings giving up 4 hits and 2 walks.

Randy Johnson mowed down 16 Minnesota batters as the Seattle Mariners beat the Minnesota Twins by a score of 2 to 0.
Johnson(4-0) was simply too much for the Minnesota batters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 5 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 1.03 to 0.76. Both teams totaled 5 hits on the afternoon.
Mark Guthrie(1-1) was charged with the loss. 'Everything felt great' Johnson said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody today.'
