45,626 fans were treated to a fine game at Fenway Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Boston Red Sox won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
 
Boston jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 6th inning plating an
isolated run utilizing 2 base hits.  Dick Radatz was great in relief and
recorded his 33rd save. 
 
The win was credited to Ed Rakow(2-8) who went 3 innings allowing 1 run. Carl
Willey(0-2) suffered the loss.  He gave up 4 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings.

Bob Lee came through with a solid 6 innings as the Boston Red Sox topped the
floundering New York AL Yankees by a score of 4 to 2 at Fenway Park.
 
The game started off with Boston taking the lead in the first as they scored 2
runs on 3 base hits.  The key at-bat was by Bob Aspromonte who brought the
crowd to their feet when he lined a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners.
New York AL threatened in the 9th but Boston was able to put down the rally.
 
Lee(12-6) went 6 innings allowing no runs for the win. The losing pitcher was
Al Downing(9-15).  He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 4 walks in 6
innings.

In a good matchup it was the BostoYork AL
Yankees 3 at Fenway Park.
 
New York AL was unable to recover after Boston went ahead in the 6th inning
scoring one runner.  Boston had only 4 hits for the game. 
 
The winning pitcher was Tracy Stallard(14-9) who allowed 3 runs in 6 innings.
Stallard got help from Ed Rakow who was credited with his 1st save.  Jim
Bouton(8-14) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed 4 hits and 7 walks in 7
innings. 
 
The Boston ballclub's record now stands at 86-65.  Not able to get much going
in recent weeks, New York AL is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record of
65-86.
