Pedro Ramos(4-12) and Galen Cisco(15-10) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with
Ramos and the New York AL Yankees coming out on top of the Detroit Tigers 2
to 1.

Ramos put on a good performance.  He didn't allow much, just 6 hits and 1 walk
in 8 innings.  Detroit made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to
push the needed runs across.

Hal Reniff earned the save, his 17th.

At Tiger Stadium, the Detroit faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel.  Ralph Terry(6-5) finally bested his Detroit counterpart, Jim
Bunning(15-14), by the score of 3 to 1.

New York AL brought 2 runs across the plate in the top of the 3rd inning.
That early scoring was all that Terry needed.  Both teams totaled 5 on the
night.

Hal Reniff was credited with his 18th save.  Bunning ended up with the loss.
He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the
game.

Joe Pepitone homered and Mel Stottlemyre went the distance as the New York AL
Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers by a score of 4 to 2.

New York AL won the game with a rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs using 4
hits.  Bobby Richardson led off the inning for New York AL when he laced a
base-hit.  Pepitone next to the plate and he lined a one-base hit.  Elston
Howard then stroked a single bringing in a run.  Mickey Mantle got his turn
next, but he was a strikeout victim.  Tom Tresh came to the plate and drew a
walk to load the bases.  After another out, Clete Boyer stepped up to the
plate and he singled scoring the final run of the inning.  Detroit went down
without a fight in the bottom of the 9th.

The win was credited to Stottlemyre(7-5) who went the whole way allowing 2
runs. Ron Kline(4-3) was the losing pitcher in relief.
