Bragg singled and Bournigal got a hit and run triple. Jefferson stepped in and launched a bp homer to make it 3-0. O'leary added an rbi single later in the inning. In the 6th, Jefferson had a 2 run single and Oleary hit a 2 run homer in the 9th to make it 8-0. Meanwhile Tim Wakefield was having his best game of the year, allowing just 3 hits (and 0 walks) in 7 innings. Texas did manage a 9th inning run to avoid the shutout and make the final score 8-1. game 2: back to back identical singles (rolls of 6-8 and splits of 12), a 2 base error, single, sac bunt and triple gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead in the 2nd. Boston came right back as Bragg had an rbi double, Frye a sac fly and Jefferson an rbi single to make it 4-3 in the 3rd. Belle and Gonzalez had back to back auto homers to open the 6th. Belle added another auto hr in the 7th to make the final score 8-3. Elster, who should hit 2 triples all year, had 2 in this game. This game featured 7 double plays. game 3: Boston returned to a form they know all too well in this one. They left the bases loaded in both the first and second innings. To make sure that didn't happen again, they hit into double plays in 4 of the remaining 7 innings. After a quick first 2 innings, Texas zeroed in on Maddux's 6 column in the 3rd. The inning started with rolls of 6-7,6-8 and 6-8 before a 4-8 (for a double) and scored 3 times. Texas added runs in the 5th and 7th and Boston got solo homers from Oleary and Jefferson.  For the second straight game the teams combined for 7 double plays which is probably some kind of record for dp's in consecutive games. Jefferson and Oleary combined to drive in 10 of the Sox 13 runs in the series.
