Previous message                 Next message Message #: 33288 Message from: Michael Tomeo Sent: Sep 8, 2015 Subject: boa@nya Any thought Boston had that they might still be in the division race evaporated as they lost 3 of 4 in the Big Apple. game 1: Dave McCarty ended the first by missing the 1-7 bp homer so he decided he would make up for it by committing a 3 base error in the bottom of the inning to allow the Yankees to take an unearned lead. Rogers returned the favor in the 2nd as his error opened the inning and he allowed 4 walks (1 intentional) as the Sox scored 3 times but left the bases loaded. 3 straight 2 out singles (plus a throwing error for good measure) allowed the Yankees to score 3 times in the 4th to take the lead.They added a run in the 5th and 7th to win 6-3. game 2: After leaving 11 on base in game 1, Boston decided to try a different approach by hitting into not 1, not 2, not even 3 or 4, but 5 double plays in this one (and they still managed to strand 4 runners). After Boston went 0-2 on bp homers inthe opener, NY got 2 bp homers in the 2nd inning. Manto got a bp homer for Boston in the 3rd to cut the lead in half. That would be it for the scoring as the Yanks held on for the 2-1 win. game 3: Hard to believe, but Boston gets 2 well pitched games in a row. Wakefield and Henry combine on a 5 hit shutout and Naehring homered for the only run of the game. Boston returned to game 1 formula as they left 12 on base in this one. game 4: With Clemens going the odds of a third straight well pitched game looked doable for Boston. The only that happened for the 3rd straight game was Boston scoring 1 run via a homer, this time by Mo Vaugh. Meanwhile, the Yankees plated 3 runs in the 3rd, without getting a hit. 4 walks, an error and a sac fly did the damage. Having missed two bp homers in game 3, Fielder wasn't about to make it a hat trick and launched a 3 run homer in the 5th as NY rolled to a 7-1 win. For the 4th timein the series, the Yankees left 7 on base
