The usual split luck prevailed in this series. game 1: A 2 out error gave Chicago an unearned run in the 2nd. In the 4th, Boston loaded the bases on 2 singles and a hit batter. Vaughn singled in a run and 2 more scored when Tartabull threw the ball away. Oleary came through with a clutch single to plate Vaughn to cap the 4 run inning. Hosey had an rbi single in the 5th Chicago got 2 back in the bottom of the inning on a grounder and sac fly. Vaughn homered in the top of the 8th to make the final 6-3. Gordon and 3 relievers danced in and out of trouble (12 hits and 2 walks) but the White Sox stranded 13. game 2: The splits were the deciding factor in this one. Scoreless with 2 out in the bottom of the 4th when Hoiles walked. Stocker got a 10 on his 1-11 triple chance for the 1-0 lead. In the 6th Boston had a runner on second with 2 outs and got a 2b 1-12 chance and just missed it,getting the 20. Chicago did manage to score in the 6th to go up 2. Tinsley homered leading off the 7th. In the 9th, Boston loaded the bases with no outs. Eusebio lifted a pinch sac fly to tie the game but Boston coulddo any more damage. In the 10th, Alou got the 11 on a 1-12 homer chance to give Chicago the 3-2 win. game 3: This one was ugly but Boston fought back late. It was also the Pete Incaviglia show as he rolled his loaded 2 column for 3 homers (2 auto). Thomas went back to back with Incy in the first as part of a 4 run inning. Incy hit a 2 run shot in the 2nd to make it 6-0 and added a solo shot in the 6th. Boston was quiet until one out in the 7th. Walk,2b,1b,1b,2b brought in 3 runs. After an out, Oleary came through with his 2nd clutch hit of the series to make it 7-5. In the 9th Vaughn led off with a triple but couldn't score and the game ended 7-5.  Boston missed 4 1-7 homers, settling for a couple doubles (splits of 8,9,14 and 16) and another one that was a 1-14 chance or this one might have been different. Haney allowed all 4 homers in game 3 and now has allowed 30 homers on the season, or his real life adjusted total. That means he has to go 104 innings without allowing a homer to reach his real life numbers. He's giving up 1 hr every 4.5 innings as opposed to the 1 in 8 he should. He is on pace to give up 53.
