Guys Here is a email from a league member in my current league. He is a huge proponent of TeamViewer and introduced it to our league. Personally, I feel it was great. Oh yeah, some of the email was deleted since he was explaining past events that occurred. It is also a handy thing to have if you are having trouble with your computer and know a friend who, while not local, is very tech savvy. You can have him check out your computer from afar. I want to tell you all some stuff about Team Viewer and why I think it is a good alternative to (not necessarily a replacement for) Strat's NetPlay. To demonstrate that I am not alone with my Netplay issues I would recommend this thread at Strat Fan Forum: http://www.stratfanforum.com/sffipb/topic/47691-workaround-for-som-netplay/?page=1 If you read all the posts you will see that many strat players and even whole leagues have been frustrated by NetPlay and have turned to remote programs like Team Viewer to work around their problems. Anyway. Team Viewer can be downloaded easily enough from www.teamviewer.com Even in the short time Ron, Billy, and Rick have had to work with Team Viewer they all see some benefits of it over NetPlay. When the voice module is working properly it can better simulate face to face play than even NetPlay since you can have an ongoing conversation with the opponent. That's even more convenient than the type-in chat box that both NetPlay and Team Viewer offer. Of course, just like if you and I were playing here on the same PC you would want to say "OK" or "ready" once your defense is set so that I know that it's alright for me to Swing Away. But you get used to that fast enough. |
