Filed under the "you can't make it up" - Aaron Sele of the Red Sox and Matt Beech of the Yankees faced each other in game one of this weeks series. One of these pitchers was about to throw the game of his life. Sox fans hoped for Sele but it was Matt Beech that shutout the Sox giving up no hits, 4 walks and striking out 12 in the 3-0 Yankee win. Sele was pretty good himself but not comparable to Beech. The closest hit was a single 1-11. In the seventh inning this game felt like a no-hitter as the sox could not touch Beech. History was made in Boston as Matt Beech(6-2) tossed a no-hitter and the New
York AL Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox by the score of 3 to 0.
Beech had his best stuff and was 'painting the black' with every pitch. A
beautiful game to watch. He walked 4 Boston batters. The tension started to
build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified.
Beech chalked up 12 strikeouts. The Boston bats were silent in the bottom of
the 9th.
Aaron Sele(7-3) ended up with the loss. 'You probably have a better chance of
winning the lottery than this happening,' said Beech, 'I don't expect it to
sink in for awhile,' he said. 'I'm numb right now, I'm overwhelmed.'
