New York AL banged out 11 on the afternoon. Don Cardwell(3-8) was given the loss. He was unable to control the New York AL offense and allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings. Downing didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 11 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding?
