MAY 22 Ralph Terry shut down the New York NL batters on just 1 hit as the sizzling New York AL Yankees defeated the New York NL Mets by a score of 2 to 0 at Polo Grounds. New York AL erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Tony Kubek keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Clete Boyer stepped up next and he tripled knocking in a run. Gino Cimoli then doubled scoring the final run of the inning. New York AL finished with just 6 hits in the victory. Terry(8-3) went the distance for the shutout. The losing pitcher was Don Lee(2-3) in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.
